Making steps in the right direction

We are serious about sustainability at Not Just Graphics

Our commitment to sustainability is a long term journey, we are always looking for ways to improve our process to reduce waste and our overall impact on the environment.

So far we have

  • Improved our digital art-working process to minimise waste output at the source.
  • Introduced specialist waste bins, ensuring all our waste is used to produce green energy rather than heading straight for landfill.
  • Reduced our electricity consumption by turning off machinery that is not in use.
  • Introduced more eco-friendly media options to our product range.
  • Utilised safer latex technology and inks, our ink consist of up to 65% water and are designed to avoid the hazards associated with eco-solvent and UV inks. They contain zero Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs), are non-flammable and non-combustible. They don’t require any special ventilation,  don’t release ozone, and avoid the problematic reactive monomer chemistry. Unlike popular solvent ink which can contain harmful chemicals such as gamma-butyrolactone.
  • Where possible, re-using carboard packaging to post orders, extending the lifespan of otherwise single use items.

New recycling accreditation for the print sector

Reconomy and the UK printing association, FESPA UK, have launched a new accreditation mark for companies participating in their sustainable waste management scheme for the print sector.

And we couldn’t wait to get on-board. The environmental impact of our industry is always at the forefront of our minds, and we wanted to ensure we were doing the best we could to minimise our impact.

The scheme has been developing recycling solutions for several difficult-to-recycle waste streams, including PVC and Polyester banner material, self-adhesive vinyl, siliconized backing papers, and rigid polypropylenes. These are all materials that come directly from printers, in the form of offcuts and scrap.  The scheme is now starting to have a significant impact with one UK supermarket chain being able to recycle an estimated 346 tonnes of used banner waste – equivalent to 2,175 1100-litre wheelie bins.

We keep up-to date with new developments and will endevour to improve our practices as we grow.
